This Exciting 4 Days Kigali Marriott Hotel and One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is a once in a life time adventure that will take you to the renowned parks of Rwanda. These are Volcanoes National Park and also Akagera National Park. These will give you a mix of Rwanda’s unique wildlife encounters as well as rich Cultural encounters.
Also known as Parc National de Volcans (PNV), Volcanoes National Park is one of the oldest parks in Africa. It was garzetted in 1925 mainly to conserve the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Volcanoes National Park covers an approximate area of 162 sqkm and it is located in the Northern Province of Rwanda in Musanze. It lies within the Great Virunga Volcano Conservation area and it is home to various Wildlife species. These include mammals like Bufaloes, forest elephants, bush pigs, forest hogs, spotted hyenas, duikers, and primates like the endangered mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and chimpanzees. The park has about 178 bird species including 29 species that are endemic to the Rwenzori mountains and the Virunga.
Akagera National Park is the largest National park in Rwanda. It was garzetted as a National Park in 1934 with a total area of 1,122sqkm. The park boosts of over 13,500 large mammals and these also include the Big 5 mammals like Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Rhinoceros and Buffaloes. Other mammals here include the Rothschild giraffes, Bruchell’s zebras, Waterbucks, oribis, hyenas, klipspringer, Hippopotamus, Impalas, Bohor reedbucks, cape eland, bush babies, Topis, hartebeests, warthogs, duikers and crocodiles among others. It also has a variety of bird species amounting to over 500 species. These include the suaza shrike, raptors great snipe bird, the shoebill stork, squaco herons, giant kingfishers, Senegal lapwing, African darter, long-toes and water knee birds, grey crowned crane, papyrus gonolek, fun-tailed widow bird, hammerkops, and cattle egret among other bird species.
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali International Airport and Transfer to your Hotel
Your 4 Days Kigali Marriott Hotel and One&Only Gorilla’s Nest Safari will start with a pick up from Kigali International Airport by our Experienced driver guide from Paradise Adventure Vacations. He will meet and greet you, brief you about your entire journey and thereafter transfer you to your Hotel for your dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Visit to the Genocide Memorial Site – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your day 2 of the 4 Days Kigali Mariotte Hotel Safari will begin with a delicious breakfast and then later proceed for a City Tour of Rwanda’s Capital, Kigali which is one of the cleanest Capital cities in Africa. This Modern City is the Business, Administrative, and Cultural City of Rwanda and it spreads out across countless hills in the middle of the Country. You will visit the Genocide Memorial Site where you will learn about the history of The Rwandan Genocide which occurred between 7th April and 15th July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. During this period of 100 days, more than 800,000 members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group and also some moderate Hutu and Twa were brutally slaughtered by armed Hutu militias. You will have your lunch in Kigali City and then later transfer to Volcanoes National Park for your dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trekking – IBY ‘lwacu Community Encounter
This day 2 of the 4 Days Kigali Marriott Hotel and One&Only Gorilla’s Nest Safari will begin with a hearty breakfast and prepare for the most interesting activity for the day. Wear appropriate clothing for the day like a pair of karky or jean trousers, a long sleeved shirt, a round cap, and water proof boots. Pack some snacks and mineral water to keep you hydrated during the strenuous trek.
Gorilla Trekking
Your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing on the Do’s and Don’ts and also expectations while in the park. In the meantime as you wait for other trekkers to gather, you will enjoy the Rwandan hospitality of traditional dances and also a cup of hot Rwandan coffee. You will then be divided into different gorilla trekking groups and start the trek. On finding them, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour in their presence as you monitor their ways of life and how they go about their day to day activities. Feel free to ask as many questions as possible about these gorillas and take memorable pictures. You will then return back to your accommodation for a delicious lunch.
Later, you will enjoy some bit of culture at the IBY ‘Iwacu Community which is also known as the Gorilla Guardians village. It is believed that some of these members are former poachers who depended on the forest for survival but later resorted to conserving the mountain gorillas. While here, you will enjoy a taste of the history and culture of Rwanda and then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer back to Kigali International Airport or your Hotel
On the final day of your safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast and thereafter drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. Golden Monkeys are cute and playful creatures, they live in groups of 80 individuals and they face threats from human activities. While trekking the golden monkeys, bear it in mind that these beautiful creatures are comfortable with flashlights unlike the Mountain Gorillas.
Golden Monkey Trekking
After your briefing, you will be assigned a park ranger who will guide you during the trek and also a Golden monkey group to look out for and thereafter you will head out to the jungle in search for the beautiful creatures.
This search through the bamboo forests will take about 3 to 4 hours since these creatures live at the bottom of the Volcano Mountains. You will encounter various mammal species on your way like Bufaloes, forest elephants, bush pigs, duikers, forest hogs, spotted hyenas and also bird species, If you are lucky you may encounter the Chimpanzees. On finding them, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them while learning their ways of life, how they feed and take care of their young ones, how they communicate among others.

Later embark on a drive out of Volcanoes National Park with your packed lunch and proceed to Kigali International Airport to catch up with your flight or drive to your hotel for another night in Rwanda.
