Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Bigodi Wetland and Community Visit
On the morning of Day 2 of your Safari, you’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast before embarking on an exciting drive to Kibale National Park, located in the stunning Western region of Uganda within the Kabarole district. This drive will take approximately 6 hours and promises breathtaking scenic views of Uganda’s captivating landscape.
As you go to the park, you’ll stop for lunch in Fort Portal Tourism City, a vibrant hub showcasing the local culture. Afterward, you’ll head to the Bigodi wetland for an invigorating swamp walk. Your journey begins at the Kanyachu Visitor Center, where you’ll receive an essential briefing on the Do’s and Don’ts of the park. Here, you’ll be paired with a knowledgeable park ranger who will guide you through the forest and introduce you to an assigned chimpanzee family.

Day 8: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trekking – IBY ‘lwacu Community Encounter
Upon awakening to the melodious sounds of birdsong, participants will commence Day 8 of the 10-Day Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Safari Adventure with an early morning breakfast. It is advisable to wear suitable attire for the day, including a long-sleeved shirt, khaki or denim trousers, a round cap, and waterproof boots. This attire is essential to protect against falling branches in Volcanoes National Park and anticipate inclement weather. Participants should also pack snacks and water to maintain hydration during the trek.
The group will proceed to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing regarding the guidelines for observing while interacting with the mountain gorillas. Each participant will be assigned a park ranger who will guide the trek and designate a specific gorilla family to locate. The search for the mountain gorillas may last between 2 to 8 hours, contingent upon the animals’ movements and foraging patterns. During the trek, participants will have the opportunity to observe various avian species, including the Long-Crested Eagle, Stonechat, Cinnamon-Breasted Bee-Eater, Grey-Throated Thrush, African Marsh Harrier, Common Moorhen, and Paradise Flycatcher, among others.
Upon locating the gorillas, participants will be permitted to spend one hour observing them. This time will provide an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, feeding habits, parental care, and modes of communication. Participants are encouraged to inquire extensively about these remarkable creatures and to capture memorable photographs. Following this encounter, the group will return to their accommodation for lunch.
In the afternoon, attendees will visit the Iby’iwacu Community to engage with the local population and exchange life experiences. This visit will offer insights into African cultural practices and lifestyles. Notably, many men in this community are former poachers who have transitioned into active roles within the park’s conservation projects. Participants will participate in various activities, including the honorary crowning as King or Queen of the Day while enjoying traditional music and dance.
