This carefully crafted itinerary invites you to embark on a journey filled with unforgettable safari experiences, where the beauty of wildlife meets the richness of unique cultural encounters. Nestled in southwestern Rwanda, near the border with Burundi, Nyungwe Forest National Park stands as Africa’s largest Afro-Montane forest, a sanctuary established in 2004. It’s a haven for chimpanzees, our closest relatives, sharing an astonishing 98.8% of our DNA. Within this lush forest, you’ll have the chance to observe two habituated groups of these remarkable creatures alongside approximately 13 other enchanting primate species, including the charming silver and golden monkeys. The park also shelters over 300 bird species, including 29 unique to the Albertine Rift, and around 85 mammal species, such as the elusive serval cats and majestic leopards.
Traveling to Volcanoes National Park, one of Africa’s oldest parks in Rwanda’s Northern Province, is another opportunity to connect with nature. Established in 1925 to protect the precious mountain gorilla population, this stunning area encompasses about 162 square kilometers of breathtaking landscapes. Here, you will be welcomed by various wildlife, including playful golden monkeys, dignified buffaloes, and gentle forest elephants. The park is also home to around 178 bird species, with 29 that can be found nowhere else in the region. Embrace the chance to immerse yourself in these remarkable habitats, where every encounter can forge a deeper understanding of our natural world and its incredible inhabitants.
