Day 3: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park – Bigodi Wetland and Community Visit

After enjoying your breakfast on day 3 of your Safari, you will embark on an exciting drive to Kibale National Park in the stunning Western region of Uganda, within the Kabarole district. This journey will take approximately 5 hours, and you will be treated to breathtaking views of Uganda’s diverse landscape. On your way to the park, you’ll make a worthwhile lunch stop in Fort Portal Tourism City before heading to the Bigodi Wetland for an invigorating swamp walk. Here, you will have the opportunity to observe a variety of butterfly species and fascinating birds, including the Black-crowned Waxbill, White-spotted Flufftail, White-breasted Negrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Black & White Shrike-flycatcher, Western Nicator, and the Superb Sunbird, among others.

Following this, you’ll engage in a vibrant community walk where you’ll see and taste the locally crafted Gins made from bananas, learn about traditional craft making, and witness the coffee processing process. Day 4: Kibale National Park – Chimpanzee Trekking – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start your day on Day 4 of your 8-day Uganda Safari Holiday by waking up early for a hearty breakfast. Dress appropriately in a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy khaki or jean trousers, a round cap, waterproof boots, and a heavy sweater to shield yourself from tree branches and unpredictable weather. Don’t forget to pack some snacks and drinking water to stay hydrated during the trek, which can last anywhere from 1 to 7 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees.

Next, head to the Kanyachu Visitor Center for an essential briefing on the park’s Do’s and Don’ts. Here, you’ll be paired with a knowledgeable park ranger who will guide you through the forest and ensure you know which chimpanzee family to follow.

During your trek, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter various primates, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, and many more. Our fleet consists of 4×4 Toyota Land cruisers with a hinged roof and skylights above the front seats. The hinged roof offers two main advantages: it provides shade without restricting the view, so that you can enjoy your safari even in the very sunny hours of the day.
